Every contractor knows one who is still doing it the hard way.
You know the shop. Three jobs running, quotes living in somebody's inbox, POs written on a text message, and an owner who finds out what a job actually cost about six weeks after it mattered. You know it because you were that shop once.
When you tell that owner what fixed it for you, that recommendation carries more weight than anything we could ever put in an ad. A builder who trusts you will take a call we would never get.
So we are not going to pretend that is a small favour. It is worth real money to us, and it should be worth real money to you.

We confirm within 5 business days
We check that the company is new to us and not already in a conversation with our team. Then we email you either way. Approved means your referral is locked to you for 180 days. Declined means we tell you why, in plain terms, so you are never left guessing.

They get running, you get paid
Once they have signed on, paid their first invoice, and finished onboarding, your $500 USD is earned. We pay out within 30 days of the end of the quarter.
The money
No cap means no cap.
Some programs pay you for the first one and then quietly stop. This one does not have a ceiling, a tier system, or a points balance you have to redeem.

Paid by bank transfer or cheque in Canada, bank transfer in the USA. Quarterly, within 30 days of quarter end. A referral that qualifies on February 10 is paid by April 30.
Who can refer
You do not have to be a customer.
Most referral programs make you buy first. This one does not.
You can refer if you are:
- A QuoteToMe customer who wants to bring a peer along
- A contractor who has seen it on a jobsite and knows a shop that needs it
- A supplier, distributor or rep who works with contractors every day
- A bookkeeper, accountant or consultant whose clients are drowning in paperwork
- An association member, a friend of the family, or a guy who overheard it at a trade breakfast
What counts
What makes a referral qualify.
We would rather be specific up front than disappoint you later.
A qualified referral is a company that:
- Is located in Canada or the USA
- Has never been a paying QuoteToMe customer in the last 24 months
- Is not already in a sales conversation, trial or onboarding with our team when your referral arrives
- Signs on and pays its first invoice within 180 days of our confirmation
- Completes onboarding
If two people refer the same company, the first complete form submitted wins. A name mentioned on a phone call does not count until it comes through the form. That is how we keep it fair rather than making a judgment call about who said it first.
If the company is already in our pipeline, we will tell you within 5 business days. It is not a reflection on you. Sometimes the timing just beats you by a week.

For larger firms
Sending more than the occasional name?
If referrals are a regular part of what you do, whether you are a supplier group, an accounting firm, an association or a consultancy with a book of contractor clients, the referral form is not the right tool for you. Our Partner program is built for volume, with its own agreement, its own commercial terms, and a named contact on our side.
Apply to become a PartnerApproved Partners are paid under their Partner agreement, not the referral program. You cannot earn both on the same company.
FAQ
Questions, answered straight.
Do I have to be a QuoteToMe customer to refer someone?
No. Anyone can refer. Customers, suppliers, accountants, association members, or a contractor who just knows a shop that needs help.
Is there really no limit?
No limit. Refer one company a year or one a month. Every qualified company earns $500 USD.
Is the $500 Canadian or US dollars?
US dollars for all referrers, in Canada and the USA.
How long does my referral stay mine?
180 days from the day we confirm it. If a deal is actively in motion when the 180 days run out, we extend it until that conversation closes, up to twelve months. You will not lose a bonus because a contractor took their time.
What if somebody else refers them first?
The first complete form submitted wins. We will tell you within 5 business days if you were not first.
What if they are already talking to QuoteToMe?
Then the referral does not qualify, and we will tell you within 5 business days. We will not use your referral to restart a conversation and pay you nothing for it.
When do I get paid?
Within 30 days of the end of the quarter in which your referral qualifies. A referral that qualifies in Q1 is paid by April 30.
How do I get paid?
Bank transfer or cheque in Canada. Bank transfer in the USA. We ask for your payment details only after your first referral qualifies, so you are not handing over banking information for a bonus you have not earned yet.
Why do you need my SIN, business number, or W-9?
Because referral bonuses are taxable income and we are required to report them. In Canada that means a T4A. In the USA it means a Form 1099 once you cross the reporting threshold. We collect what we need and nothing more.
Do I pay tax on it?
Yes, the bonus is yours to report. If you are registered for GST/HST, the $500 USD bonus is inclusive of applicable GST/HST. Talk to your accountant about your own situation.
Can I refer my own company?
No. And if you work for or advise the company you are referring, check with your employer first. Tick the box on the form and we will work it out with you.
Will you tell them I referred them?
Yes, and we are required to. Our first email names you and says you sent us their way. That is also why the introduction works.
Can I post about it publicly?
Yes, and please do. Just say plainly that you can earn a referral bonus. A line like "I get a referral bonus if you sign up" is enough. Do not send bulk email or run ads on the QuoteToMe name.
What if they cancel?
If the company cancels or gets a refund within 90 days of their first payment, the bonus is not payable. If we have already paid it, we offset it against your next one. We will talk to you before doing anything.
Do multiple locations count as separate companies?
One bonus per company, including its related entities and divisions, unless we agree otherwise in writing before you refer.
Can you change or cancel the program?
We can, with 30 days notice posted on this page. Any referral we already confirmed keeps the terms it was confirmed under. We are not going to move the goalposts on work you already did.
